Dogsled

Dogsled tour and sleepover at kennel
The tour starts with a short transfer to the village Oinakka. We will get warm clothes and meet the dogs before we take off to the beautiful forest. Along the way we will make a stop in a Lavvu, a Lappish hut, for some coffee while the guide tells about the life as a musher. We take a walk with snowshoes on a "trap line", and hopefully we will see some tracks of the animals that live in the surroundings. Getting back to the kennel, we take care of the dogs and give them their dinner before we get our own. After a good night sleep and a nice breakfast we take the dogs for an exited tour back to Camp Ripan.

Speedy Forest Dogsled Tour
We start at Ripan and change into warm clothing and meet the friendly Alaskan Huskies. Whilst you get comfortable on reindeer hides on the sledge, the dogs' excitement crescendos in howls, eager to start. Off we go, and suddenly everything is quiet. The only thing you can hear is the sledge gliding over the snow and the breathing of the dogs. We take a break in a Sami-style tepee, and by the light of the open fire we will have a cup of coffee with some homemade bread and local specialties. We have the chance of seeing wild animals along the trail, at least their tracks in the snow.

The price includes: Guide, appropriate warm clothing and coffee
Departures: Daily tours, 10:00-12:00 and 18:00-20:00 (Not 31/12) Dec - Apr

The same tour as above, with lunch or dinner

Drive a Sled-dog Team on the ‘trap line'
Collection at Camp Ripan for transport to the log hut by the sled dog kennels. You change into warm clothes and then meet the sled dogs before we set off. You can drive your own dog team, alone or with a friend sitting in the sled. Alternatively you can go in the guide's sled. On arrival at the hut, we light a fire and prepare lunch. There is then a short snowshoe hike on the ‘trap line', if we are lucky we might see some tracks of the wild animals that live in the area. With the help of the dogs, we make our way back to the kennels where you will be transported back to Camp Ripan at 2:30 pm.
